Hard to find...

People are plentiful.
Friends can be found just about anywhere.
Good friends are hard to come by.
Best friends are far and few between.

I feel like that's kind of a poem? Ha, I know it's not though.

Ignore the wall of sexy men behind us!

Don't mind me... Just chillin at the beach with my cabinet.

Thermal cam... guess neither of us are very "hot" (get it?)

Ignore the ever lengthing mullet... it has since been removed.

I love my cousin. :) <3
Best friends are just that. They're the best. Best friends should bring you up, make you want to be better. They are what's good for you and you hope that as you grow and progress they'll always be what's good for you. Sometimes, they aren't though.

I have always liked having a few close friends. And then plenty of other just good friends. And that's kinda what I have now.

A best friend is hard to come by. But, to come by as many as I have is rare. They all mean so much to me. I don't wanna do lists. Because people get hurt when you do lists. (I am missing a few pictures of some of my best friends on this blog... these are just ones that were taken recently).

They say a good friend picks you up when you fall down. A best friend laughs, says "walk much?!" and then helps you up.

A good friend bails you out of jail. A best friend is there in the cell with you saying "man that was fun."

A good friend is always nice. A best friend lets you have it when you deserve it.

A good friend loves you. A best friend loves you unconditionally.

A good friend is there for you. They ask how you're doing. A best friend knows how you're doing and is there without you asking.

I am beyond blessed with the people in my life. Especially at a time that has been emotionally hard for me... I have never felt as much love from the friends I have (near and far) as I have this school year.

To the good friends of this world... I salute you. To the best friends I congratulate you for you truly have found something wonderful.

"A best friend is a single soul dwelling in two bodies." (If that's the case... my soul is split into 5 bodies... 2 more and I'll have just as many best friends as Voldemort has horucruxes... nerd joke!)

Anxiety...And a Catharsis of Sorts.

I am ready for Will to leave. Not because I want him to be gone and not because I'm tired of him. But, I am tired of anticipating the day when my days of "normalcy" will ultimately come to a screeching halt. I can't really focus on much else other than... I can't even TALK to him come Sunday. He gets set apart the 12th and reports to the MTC on the 15th. What?

Just yesterday it was January. And Jenna and I were at some silly stake dance. There we spotted Luke and his roommates. Really knowing very few other people from our new ward we went up and introduced ourselves to the four (we already knew Luke) of them. I thought Will seemed nice. Quiet and very soldiery (which is weird cause I later found out he was in ROTC... it was just the way he carried himself?), but nice.

Today, we've been dating for a little more or less than 5 months. Weird that we don't exactly have an anniversary? It was more of like a series of days than just ONE day. That's OK. It makes us different.

I am going to write down the weird chain in which I know Will, so that one day later on I will realize how blessed I was to have some of the experiences I had both semesters. And to realize how much the Lord's hand really is in our lives. Even if it's only to look back with fond memories of my freshman year (I hope it is more than that... ) I want to be able to remember just how intricate us meeting was.

I'll start at the beginning. Room selection day:
  1. If only I had listened to my Aunt Brenda and roomed in her old hall (Whitney) I would've met Will first semester. But, I didn't. I for some reason decided on Harris... mainly because it was SUPER close to campus.
  2. I added Nikole Clayton on facebook as a friend. And as the day closed and I had 4 other roommates I quickly logged on and tried to stalk them on facebook as well.
  3. I kept getting a room swap request from some girl in Gates Hall. I never took it because, well I had "met" Nikole and really liked her and she didn't know who the girl was... so, I never took it.
  4. Thus, I ended up in 60 Harris Hall.
Move-in Day:
  1. Basically the most important piece to the puzzle here is that I met Nikole and Jenna.
  2. Also, a big piece is that Jenna was my roommate. And that she was from Indiana. And that she had very few youth in her ward and spent a lot of time 4 hours south... in her cousins ward... which also happened to be Luke's ward.
Over the course of Fall semester Nikole, Ashley, Jenna and I bonded. However, we had a little bit of a clash with our other 2 roommates and eventually decided that it would be best (for all 6 of us), if we moved out. Ashley had found a spot in Fox Hall, Nikole was moving back home and me and Jenna were on the hunt. Ideally we wanted to stay together.

Room swapping:
  1. I tried everywhere. Girls just weren't wanting to switch! Many had just never changed their swap preference from room selection day. Basically... a bunch of dead ends.
  2. I talked to a lot of girls who knew people who were moving. I tried with them, but really I just kept getting shut down!
  3. Finally, I logged on in a desperate attempt clicked on a bed in 232 Whitney Hall that happened to be orange. (Looking to swap). I came back later that day to find that she had accepted. I Travis, Josh and Jourden who were in that ward and immediately texted Travis to find out who the girl was and was her roommate trying to swap as well.
  4. As fate would have it these two girls wanted out as well. So, after much talking and asking (some other girl had taken Jenna's spot in the room before she could... so I sent an email to her) me and Jenna were BOTH settled in Whitney Hall.
Jenna and Luke:
  1. Luckily Jenna knew Luke from back home... So, once we found Luke at the dance we started hanging out with them more often.
  2. We even scoured both of our phones for 3 "cute, single girls" to come hang out with us so that there wouldn't be a 5-2 boy to girl ratio one night.
  3. One night when I was looking for something to do... I invited myself over  to their apartment and me and Will, Ben, Luke and Skyler went to Panda. We basically swapped awkward date stories, funny first semester stories, what girls/boys like on a first date and how to tell if someone is interested. That night Will asked me out on a date. He says I wasn't dropping any hints that I wanted him to and therefore was clearly being bold. But, he obviously wasn't picking up any of the hints I dropped to say the very least. :)
Just weird how it all works out huh? Basically the wrong hall but the right roommate. And then the right roommate with the right friend. And then the right friend with the awesome Will roommate. Just a weird chain. Something I want to remember.

I am ready for him to go on his mission. At one of my weaker moments yesterday my mom sent me a very insightful text. It basically said that I did deep down and at the surface want him to go on his mission. That it would be hard. But, that I wanted a man who had served a worthy mission. And this was his chance to become that kind of man.

I am ready for him to leave because I am ready for him to come home. I am ready for the future. I am kinda happy about getting mail. But, more importantly I am happy for him to grow into the man I know the Lord wants him to be. I am ready for my own growth. Both, emotionally and spiritually. I know William will make an amazing missionary. And I know he will do extraordinary things and that his example and words will be both sincere and inspiring.

I am ready to see what the future holds. I know what I want. I know what he wants. And, if my future husband reads this and it's not William, don't be angry. I love this guy. I will always have a spot for William Daybell in my heart. And as much as I am going to date around these next 2 years. And as much as I am going to work on getting myself more like the person I want to be. And as cliche and teenagery as this sounds... the next 2 years (unless he changes his mind), my heart will be in Argentina. And it's not going to be easy to ever steal it away.

We had it right back in elementary school. We laugh and joke at how serious our younger siblings, children or friends are. About how dramatic and "lovesick" they act. But, they get it. They understand what we don't. It's OK to say things like, "I'm going to marry him," "Future Mrs. (insert last name)", "I love him so much, you just don't know," "he is my whole world," etc... How often I find myself thinking the same things a 3rd grader or a 9th grader would about their boyfriend.

I love William Daybell in the simplest of ways. Yet, somehow I love him in the deepest. He is wonderful, he is cute, he is smart, he is funny, he is quiet, he is a soldier, he is sweet and kind, he is a leader, he is a missionary and he is, for the moment, mine.

More to come later. That I can promise. Now, I need to put down the cheez-its and call the kid. I won't be able to in 4 days. UGH. Goodnight.

Tonight...

OK. Let me preface this post with the fact that I have been very sparing with the details of my life/friends/people I hang out with this semester.

I'll give a brief rundown.

Luke: Really funny and nice. From Indiana. He knew Jenna before coming out here. They were friends.
Will: A big goofball. Funny, kind and in 2 of my classes. He's a really cool guy.  He's in ROTC. I don't know why that's important. He's a goober too. From Virginia, D.C area.
Ben: From Wisconsin. Nice as well. They are all easy to talk to. He is one to joke around a lot but, make sure you know he's joking and is just a good guy.
Skylar: Very good guy. He's sweet. He is from Utah. He goes home occasionally. He brought REALLY good peanut butter chocolate chip cookies home today.
Quinton: Shy at first. Keeps the other guys in line. He has a very like "righteous" sense of humor I guess. I dunno. He's funny with what he says but, I don't know. It's hard to explain.
Sam: Cute little blonde roommate. She is from Arizona. She works in the Cougareat. She is adorable and funny. She is dating Jared.
Ariana: From California! An amazing cook! She made a chore chart and guess what... we actually stick to it. We do chores every Saturday thanks to her. And the apartment is CLEAN!!!
Marie: Is from all over. Such a nice girl. She is pretty funny. She has the sarcastic sense of humor. But, is easy to talk to as well.
Melinda: SO sweet. Anything you do she is interested in. And genuinely interested. Not the fake kind that sometimes people do. But, the real kind.
Jared: Sam's boyfriend. Me and Jenna try to make them awkward (hence my weird outfit that one day). He's a good guy. Funny and puts up with a lot when me Jenna and Sam are in the same room. :)
(You should all know/have heard about the Tanners, Mitchell, Lewis, James and Paul).

Anyway, to top things off. I was still on my dating sabbatical (as my mom called it). Kind of. I would go out on dates but, strictly as friends. So, in lieu of having few girl friends, I found myself hanging out with Luke, Will, Ben and Skylar all night. It's not a bad thing I love my guy friends. They are a lot less drama then girls. And actually a lot of fun. So, I didn't mind at all. The company is good. And they are all cute guys so that helps.

Ok. Here's what happened. Me and Will had been texting/talking a lot since we had classes together and he's in my new ward and all that fun stuff. I think he's cute. He's not like drop dead gorgeous but he's cute. And his personality and sense of humor just make him all that much better.

We all (me and the boys) hung out and watched Despicable Me. They asked who I hung out with. When I said "You guys, Jenna and Sam, and like 2 other groups of guys from my old ward.... is that bad? Like that I have no girl friends? It used to be sorta the other way around." They said "no. to be honest we like hanging out with you (and Jenna when she comes). You're cool. Besides, we mostly hang out with each other. Like just us guys." I took that as a compliment. So we went to Panda express from like 9:10-10:45 and just talked and hung out.

I went home after that. They wanted to borrow one of our movies. I texted Will a list of the movies. He said surprise us! So, I met Will halfway. So like 5 feet out of our building and like 10 feet out front of his building. We made small talk. I handed him the movie (Killers). We awkwardly said goodbye when he said "Hey.. I wanted to tell you but not in front of the other guys... that I think you're really pretty." I said "thank you..." and smiled! Like what am I supposed to say?! So, he said "thanks for the movie." "Anytime. See you at church tomorrow?" "Definitely." And then he turned and kissed my cheek.

You know what? I kind of liked it.

Dating sabbatical legitimately over... possibly. I'll keep you posted.

(I don't have a picture for today. I forgot to bring my camera. Oops. So, here's a throwback from Halloween?)

I think it's funny. I can't remember if it's on here already. But, oh well.

Skipping My Other Post.. For Now.

So. I have another blog all lined up and ready to go.. its a very lengthy detailed blog about my first week of school. It however, does not include how much homework stinks. UGH. I hate homework.

So, I decided to write a little blurb on all my roommates. Pictures courtsey of facebook. We've yet to take any. :)

Roommate 1, Amy: Amy is quite nice. She is however, also extremely smart and quite friendly. She has a really good voice and is actually in the BYU Women's choir... Thing. Which is AWESOME. She seems to be a little more mature than I am. Well.. maybe just less crazy. :)
Roommate 1

Roommate 2, Holly: I love. She is too cute. And it doesn't hurt that she was there to comfort me when I was having an OFF day! :) Super naive but what can you do?! She is really nice and works two jobs, so she's not always here. Which is sad cause I really like her. No really weird stories about her. Except that this weird boy came to the door last night when it was just us there. He awkwardly asked for her number (as I eavesdropped from the kitchen laughing.) She came came in after the encounter highly upset that she had given him her real number. But, she's too nice to do anything else.
Roommate2
Roommate 3 Jenna: Two words. BOY CRAZY!! She loves boys!! It is funny to hear her talk about how much she likes them.  (Despite having VL. Don't ask me what that is. It's an embarrassing Utah term... Ok first word is Virigin second Lips. Like I said.. I cringe just thinking it.) But that really doesn't matter!?! At least to me! She is however, very sporty. Which is good cause I enjoy playing sports as well! So at least im not alone in that aspect! She is outgoing and pretty easy going. Just REALLY REALLY boy crazy. :)
Roommate3
Roommate 4 Ashley: Nice as well. Not boy crazy, or at least not any more than the rest of us. ;) Only teasing. But back to roommate 4. She is really nice as well. Pretty easy going as well, also a VL. However, she's legit and I end up doing lots of things with her. Because she likes some of the same stuff I do. Also, she doesn't mind sharing her friends with me. Which helps because she's from Utah and knows lots of people, and I came out alone. Ashley, is awesome. ha
Roommate4
Roommate 5: OK OK. Her name is Nikole. She's my actual roommate and out of everyone I think we get along really well. :) Neither of us are super boy crazy, or super SUPER (like to the point of being too much and over the top) Mormony. Was VL up until recently. Im SO proud of her. We have a lot of fun together. With her friends (she doesn't sharing either. Plus lots are boys.. which is good. I guess?) But anyways we have one class together.. Physical Science. Which I hate. She'll help me with it im sure. That will be the trying test of our friendship.. Can she survive my illiteracy when it comes to physical science. I hope so. I like this roommate. I got REAL lucky.
Me and Nikole in our ROOM!!
All in all. I got pretty good roommates, if I dont say so myself. Walking around campus and seeing some of the other freshman i'd say I got some of the best BYU had to offer. They have helped make my time here at BYU thus far.

If you want any more specifics (names, birthdays, weird tendencies, other weird boyfriend stories..) feel free to ask, til next time.
